SURROUNDINGS
Ostuni, the White City of Salento, is located in the province of Brindisi at more than 200 metres above sea level, on the last offshoots of the Murgia territory. This white jewel of Apulia is one of the most famous places in Salento, along with Santa Maria di Leuca, Otranto and Taranto.
The historic centre of Ostuni, called 'La Terra' by its inhabitants, was once completely painted with white lime, which only partially remains today. The houses climb the steep sides of a hill and the village is characterised by a tangle of winding streets, a succession of small squares, alleys and courtyards. The lower part of the village is surrounded by the ancient city walls in which the only two entrances to the city that have remained intact are set: Porta Nova and Porta San Demetrio. At the top of the hill stand the 15th-century Ostuni Cathedral with its large 24-ray rose window, the Bishop's Palace and the old Seminary.
Along the 17 kilometres of coastline in the Ostuni area, in a wonderful play of colours, are long beaches with dunes covered in Mediterranean maquis and an alternation of sandy coves and rocky coastline. Today, the coastline is one of the most attractive seaside resorts in Puglia. Don't miss Rosa Marina, a succession of small sandy beaches amidst the Mediterranean maquis, Monticelli where you can find a quiet and familiar atmosphere, and Costa Merlata, so called because of its extremely jagged coastline, with the sea creeping through the ravines of a rocky coastline forming unique and intimate sandy coves.

OSTUNI
